Jim Haynes Living Archives™

Tribute: Angi Lamb

On 20th July, 2020 the academic community of Edinburgh lost a trooper and true friend.

Angi Lamb is a co-founder of the Jim Haynes Living Archives at Edinburgh Napier University.

In addition, Angi was an IT consultant at Edinburgh University, a member of Edinburgh University Court and prominent member of UCU was a huge contributor and supporter of this archive project. She was instrumental in bringing an end to zero-hours contracts at Edinburgh Uni.

We continue her work in creating new style sheets for academic archive referencing in scholarly work, and data-driven development.

We also strive to continue Angi advocacy, and bring light to those dealing with lung cancer – the progress of which, in contrast to breast cancers and others – stalled about 20 years ago.

More women die of lung cancer than any other type currently. New drugs, such as Keytruda, are not approved for the NHS – and only those with tens of thousands of pounds have access to this promising new treatment.

We are forever indebted to Angi for her expertise, razor-sharp wit, friendship and contributions. She’s sorely missed. However, her message was always: “Where’s the positive in it?”

With that, we look forward.
